I am writing this letter to thank Roxanne, Carole, and Katy for all the help I have received here.
When I started here I thought it was going to be another boring job search and resume writing program. I was very pleasantly surprised.
The Focus for Change group was awesome. We learned so much and had a great time doing it. The group I was in was very upbeat and willing to learn.
Roxanne was the first to greet me. She had a wonderful smile and I immediately felt welcomed. She helped me get through the first few days of feeling out of place and put me straight to work. She was very encouraging with her words and actions.
The Director Katy has an open door and I like that. Always smiling
and looks straight at you when you talk. I find her empathic and sincere.
Carole was the facilitator of the Focus group. Although the group
was small and the material a little boring I learned a lot and thoroughly
enjoyed the course. Carole was an inspiration to us all with her bright smile,
confidence and can do attitude. She answered all my questions and was a great
liaison between myself and my OW worker.
I enjoyed every day here and I hope this program continues to run
for a long time. After being on the system for a while we tend to get a bit
discouraged but being here has boosted my spirits so much. Thank you everyone!
Alpha helped Adam study for his DZ License, use computers, find ressources and face challenges. Adam obtained his DZ License and is now employed at Bob's Service Centre. He even hopes to get an advancement into mechanics!
Anne was introduced to Alpha at a time when she was struggling. Alpha was able to help her upgrade her resumé, and overall skills.
Anne now has a permanent, full-time career at the City of Greater Sudbury.
Brandon was a part of the Focus For Change group. After the program Brandon received a two week placement at Canadian Tire in Sturgeon Falls.
Through his placement Brandon was able to obtain full-time employement!
Eve came to Alpha to upgrade from her previous career. She was able to get into college to become a Personal Support Worker. Eve is now a Personal Support Worker in Sudbury, and a Firefighter in Markstay-Warren.
Nathalie's dream is to be an English Teacher Abroad, unfortunately she didn't have the prerequisites to go to University, that was until she found Alpha. Nathalie was able to obtain the credits she needed to get into University, and now she is studying for her dream at Laurentian University.
Madame Linda was no longer happy with the job she had. She noticed there were new employment opportunities around town, however, she did not have the proper qualifications. At Alpha, she was able to take a computer course and got help with writing her resumé. With our help, Madame Linda was able to obtain employment at the Caisse Populaire.
Through the Focus For Change program, Rejean was able to turn his life around. Our workshops really helped motivate him to find employment.
He is now a Service Advisor and Service Writer at Freightliner in Northbay.
Diane came to Alpha to obtain her grade 12 equivalency; she was than able to attend college for an Accounting Program.
Diane now owns her very own cleaning company. Thanks to the accounting program she's now able to understand where her business stands in terms of finances, and the overall performance of her company.
